Elon Musk took yet another dig at Meta’s Threads upcoming new feature, posted by Mark Zuckerberg. On Thursday, the Meta boss posted a Vin Diesel gif from the Fast & Furious franchise. Mark wrote, ‘Get Excited — search is coming to Threads!’ An X/Twitter shared the screenshot of the Zuckerberg post, asking why this app is even considered a competitor of X (FKA Twitter). Musk joined the chorus by taking a dig at the Threads app. ‘What will they think of next?’ Musk sarcastically asked.

The Threads app was launched with much fanfare in July as a potential rival to X/Twitter. The initial euphoria of the app, which garnered over 100 million subscribers within 5 days of its launch. A major chunk of the daily active users on the platform soon fizzled out. While Meta loyals stuck to the app as a sane alternative to X/Twitter, users have been yearning for basic UI features such as hashtags, search, among others.
The app is still in its early days, and the Meta HQs are still tinkering with it. With Twitter being rebranded as X, it doesn’t seem like a rival anymore. X is accelerating towards becoming an everything app, while Threads still remains a microblogging platform like early Twitter, barring a few features.
Nonetheless, Musk doesn’t seem to cease taking potshots at everything Meta (or LinkedIn and other apps, for that matter). The billionaire’s millions of acolytes seek pleasure in him bashing the likes of Zuck, Gates, and others. Demand and supply. Musk supplies.
