In the near future, Samsung’s upcoming smartphones might feature a 432MP camera sensor, a significant upgrade from the current 200MP sensor found in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This 432MP camera would represent the highest resolution ever seen in a smartphone camera.
It is expected that Samsung will continue to use GN3 for the Fold 6, and it is anticipated that starting from Fold 7, they will use S5KHP5.
And Samsung is preparing a 1-inch sensor, the “HW” series.

According to a report, Samsung is actively developing two 432MP sensors under the names ISOCELL HW1 and HW2, both of which are designed as spacious 1-inch sensors. With this move, Samsung Semiconductors is pushing the boundaries once again, following its previous achievements with 108MP and 200MP mobile image sensors.

What do we know so far?
According to insights from tipster Revegnus on X, Samsung is reportedly in the process of developing two 1-inch mobile image sensors known as ISOCELL HW1 and HW2. Both of these sensors are poised to be game-changers with a 432-megapixel resolution.
Here are the expected specifications for these sensors:
ISOCELL HW1: A 1/1.05-inch sensor with a pixel size of 0.56µm and a remarkable 432-megapixel capacity.
ISOCELL HW2: A sensor measuring 1/1.07-inch with a pixel size of 0.5µm, boasting the same impressive 432-megapixel capability.
Back in July 2022, industry enthusiasts stumbled upon a trademark for Hexa Pixel, suggesting that this camera sensor could harness a 36:1 pixel binning technology, resulting in 432 megapixels (equivalent to 12MPx36). This suggests that we could potentially see the 432MP sensor making its debut in the Galaxy S25 series, expected to launch in early 2025, or more likely in the Galaxy S26 series, anticipated for early 2026.
Additionally, the tip provides insights into Samsung’s ongoing sensor development efforts. For instance, Samsung may choose to continue employing the ISOCELL GN3 sensor for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and possibly switch to the ISOCELL S5KHP5 for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. These developments promise exciting advancements in mobile photography technology in the near future.
