OnePlus initially gained recognition for providing premium specifications at affordable prices. However, the company’s evolution has led it to compete directly with major players like Apple and Samsung. To take on devices like the Galaxy Z Fold5, OnePlus is preparing to introduce its debut foldable phone, the OnePlus Open. Despite earlier predictions, the launch of this foldable device is facing a delay.

OnePlus Open Launch Delayed
Journalist Max Jambor, who had previously mentioned the expected release of the OnePlus Open foldable phone in late August, now reports that the launch will be delayed. The reason behind the delay is attributed to OnePlus’ dissatisfaction with the display performance provided by Chinese company BOE. In response to this setback, OnePlus is currently testing the device with display panels from Samsung, which, according to Jambor, have met the company’s expectations.

This decision to delay the launch appears to be a prudent move, as it aims to ensure that the OnePlus Open meets the desired standards before its official introduction.
Leaked renders of the OnePlus Open foldable phone have surfaced on the internet, providing a glimpse of its design. Fortunately, it appears that the overall design will remain unchanged, dispelling concerns of further delays caused by last-minute alterations. The delay in the launch is solely attributed to OnePlus’ dissatisfaction with the performance of the display provided by BOE. The company aims to address this issue to ensure a seamless user experience before releasing the OnePlus Open to the market.
The rumored specifications for the OnePlus Open foldable device are quite impressive. It is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, coupled with a substantial 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. While the previous BOE display is being replaced, the overall size and other display specifications are expected to remain unchanged. Once unfolded, users will be greeted with a generous 7.8-inch 2K foldable AMOLED display, providing an immersive experience.

The OnePlus Open is rumored to boast an impressive triple camera setup on the rear, featuring a 48MP primary camera, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 64MP telephoto sensor. Moreover, the phone is said to come equipped with two front-facing cameras to ensure seamless selfie-taking regardless of whether the device is folded or unfolded. Specifically, the outer display will house a 32MP sensor, while the inner display will have a 20MP sensor.
