OnePlus recently announced its upcoming foldable smartphone, tentatively referred to as the OnePlus Open, during an event on September 20. Although the official launch date and moniker are yet to be confirmed by OnePlus, a recent leak suggests that the OnePlus Open is scheduled to be unveiled on October 19.

Notably, the release of the OnePlus Open was initially expected in August, but it was delayed due to OnePlus’ decision to switch from BOE displays to Samsung panels. Renowned tipster Max Jambor (@MaxJmb) suggests that the official launch will now take place on October 19.

The OnePlus Open is anticipated to feature an outward folding design, resembling devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Pixel Fold, and Vivo X Fold 2. This innovative smartphone is expected to be introduced as a variant of the Oppo Find N2, with its initial release likely to take place in China before making its way to global markets, including India and the US.

OnePlus has officially confirmed its ongoing development of a foldable smartphone, and it is rumoured to be priced at less than Rs. 1,20,000.

OnePlus Open specifications (Expected)

Rumors suggest that the OnePlus Open will be equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, paired with a generous 16GB of RAM and a capacious 256GB of built-in storage. This foldable device is expected to sport an expansive 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED inner display, accompanied by a 6.3-inch AMOLED cover screen featuring a speedy 120Hz refresh rate.

In the camera department, the OnePlus Open is rumoured to boast a versatile triple rear camera setup. This setup is anticipated to include a 50-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 48-megapixel sensor featuring an ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel sensor equipped with a periscope lens to enable optical zoom capabilities. For capturing stunning selfies, it may house dual 32-megapixel front-facing camera sensors.
