Nokia, a renowned mobile phone manufacturer, has introduced two new feature phones in India – the Nokia 105 (2023) and Nokia 106 4G. These phones, despite being basic models, come equipped with unique features. Notably, they incorporate an inbuilt UPI 123PAY functionality, enabling users to utilize the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) technology on these devices.

The Significance of UPI in India

UPI holds significant importance in India and has gained widespread adoption, predominantly limited to smartphones. Nokia has now launched these feature phones to extend UPI payment services to a budget-friendly segment. Let’s delve into the pricing, specifications, and functionality of the Nokia 105 (2023) and Nokia 106 4G, as well as their UPI services.

Nokia 105 (2023) and Nokia 106 4G: How Much It Costs

The Nokia 105 (2023) comes with a price tag of Rs 1,299 and will be accessible in Charcoal, Cyan, and Red color choices. Meanwhile, the Nokia 106 4G will be available at a retail price of Rs 2,199 and will be offered in Charcoal and Blue options.

Both phones will be available for purchase starting May 18 in India, with Nokia currently listing only the 105 (2023) model on its website.

Features of Nokia 105 (2023)

The Nokia 105 (2023) boasts a 1.8-inch QQVGA display and houses a 1,000mAh battery that provides 12 hours of talk time and 22 days of standby time. The Nokia 105 (2023) is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro-USB port for charging. It runs on the Series 30+ (S30+) operating system, which is specifically tailored for Nokia feature phones. The device supports 2G connectivity, allowing basic communication functions. Additionally, it includes an inbuilt FM radio for listening to your favorite stations. Moreover, the phone is certified with IP52 water resistance, providing protection against water splashes and ensuring durability.

Features of Nokia 106 4G

As the name suggests, the Nokia 106 4G offers 4G connectivity on a feature phone. It features a 1.8-inch QQVGA display and houses a 1,450mAh battery, capable of lasting for weeks in standby mode. In addition to an inbuilt FM radio, it includes an MP3 player. Similar to the Nokia 105 (2023), it comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, micro-USB port for charging, and operates on the Series 30+ (S30+) operating system. It also possesses IP52 water resistance certification.

The latest feature phones from Nokia – the 105 (2023) and 106 4G – support UPI services. These devices are equipped with an inbuilt UPI 123PAY functionality, which utilizes NPCI’s instant payment system for feature phone users. This service allows feature phone users to perform transactions through four different methods, including IVR-based calling, app functionality, missed call-based approach, and proximity sound-based payments.
