As announced earlier, X has finally scraped headlines from the platform. Elon Musk in August remarked that removing headlines will ‘greatly improve the esthetics’ of the app.
As of Wednesday, users are witnessing articles sans headlines on several posts of various publications. The change is visible both on the website and app. The change will greatly affect how news is shared on the platform. Earlier, while sharing a URL on the app, it’d automatically convert to a headline with an image. Probably the publishers would have to change their game now or await Musk’s further plans.
This is coming from me directly. Will greatly improve the esthetics.

The new UI reflects the billionaire techbro’s view on media. Elon Musk constantly berates traditional media. Earlier he mocked newspapers as basically reporting bites picked from X/Twitter. He then bashes legacy news. The Tesla mogul writes that he does not real legacy news anymore, dubbing most of it as lies and driven by narratives of choice.
He calls the legacy media propaganda and a waste of time that is a sadness generator. The SpaceX boss remarks that he gets all his news from X.
Newspapers basically just report on what they read yesterday on X lmao

Yeah, a lot, especially in choice of narrative!
On 𝕏, lies are exposed by @CommunityNotes & user comments.
Liars will really hate this platform.

I don’t read the legacy media propaganda much anymore. It’s a waste of time and a sadness generator.
Just get my news from X – much more immediate, has actual world-class subject matter experts and tons of humor.
Sooo much better!

After his recent visit to the Texas-Mexico border live streaming the mass immigration, Musk has been advocating for journalism on X. He wrote that citizen journalism is the future and encouraged users to post news about events as they happen both in text and video format.
The billionaire has been luring users to turn into citizen journalists and get paid on the platform for a while now. Conservative journalist Trucker Colson’s exit from Fox News and then his explosive growth on Twitter, has propelled Musk’s dreams of adding more ad revenues with more turning up with news and/or even live stream – a game of tetris maybe.

Citizen journalism is the path to better future!
I strongly encourage people around the world to post news about events as they’re happening, in both text & video. https://t.co/c8PxqinKAm

Please encourage more citizen journalism! You can do live video easily from your phone.
More on-the-ground reporting from regular citizens will change the world.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) September 29, 2023
I hope people around the world engage in citizen journalism, so we know what’s truly happening and we get real-time, on-the-ground coverage! https://t.co/m78rUDzpQl
