Amazon Prime Raised Prices

The monthly Prime membership has seen the steepest increase, with prices rising from Rs 179 to Rs 299, an increase of 67%. Quarterly Prime membership has also risen by 31%, from Rs 459 to Rs 599, while the yearly Prime membership fee remains unchanged at Rs 1,499. The Annual Prime Lite plan also remains the same at Rs 999.

Amazon Prime Membership provides its users with a range of benefits, including free and fast delivery on millions of items, access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime deals, and more. In addition, Prime Reading, Prime Gaming, and Amazon Family are also included in the membership.

The e-commerce giant has not provided any reasons for the price hike, but it could be due to the rising costs of logistics and delivery, especially during the pandemic. Amazon has seen a surge in demand for its services during the pandemic, as more customers have turned to online shopping.

Amazon Prime has faced tough competition from local e-commerce players in India, such as Flipkart and Reliance-owned JioMart. Both companies offer similar services, including free delivery and exclusive deals for their members.

Despite the price increase, Amazon Prime’s benefits still offer significant value to its subscribers. With a wide range of benefits, including access to Amazon’s vast product selection, it remains a popular choice for online shoppers in India.

The decision to maintain the old prices for existing subscribers will come as a relief to many, especially during the ongoing economic uncertainty caused by the pandemic. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen how the price hike will affect Amazon Prime’s growth in India.
