On October 4th, Google is set to unveil its highly anticipated Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. These flagship devices are expected to come with cutting-edge features and technology, following Google’s tradition of excellence in the Pixel lineup.
Every year, alongside its premium offerings, Google also introduces more affordable models in the ‘A’ series. Following this pattern, it’s highly likely that the Pixel 8a will make its debut shortly after the Pixel 8 series launch.

Recent online leaks have surfaced, allegedly showcasing the Google Pixel 8a. These images reveal a striking bright blue colour and a design closely resembling that of the Pixel 8 series. The phone boasts curved edges and a camera band housing two sensors on the back. Notably, the camera module matches the phone’s colour scheme, similar to what we’ve seen in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The front features a punch-hole display, with the power and volume buttons conveniently placed on the right side.
Specs (Expected)
While these leaked images strongly suggest that the device is the Pixel 8a, there’s still a possibility it could be a prototype, considering the months left until the official launch. Geekbench listings have previously revealed key details about the Pixel 8a, which is codenamed ‘Akita.’ The phone was spotted running an underclocked version of the Tensor G3 chipset, paired with a Mali-G715 GPU. It was also listed with 8GB of RAM and Android 14.
Despite these promising developments, there are lingering uncertainties about the Pixel 8a’s fate. Reports have hinted at Google potentially shifting to a two-year launch cycle or discontinuing the ‘A’ series altogether, suggesting that the Pixel 7a might have marked the end of the line.
However, as of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the future of the ‘A’ series. Stay tuned for more updates as Google’s launch event approaches.
