Meta, the parent company of social media giants Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has been going through a primary restructuring phase resulting in the layoff of a significant number of its employees. However, it appears that the company is still looking to streamline its operations further, as reports suggest that Meta is planning to cut staff from its London office and potentially relocate some employees to other offices. This move comes as Meta aims to improve its efficiency and optimize its workforce to meet the changing needs of the industry.

According to reports from Bloomberg, Instagram is planning to lay off or relocate employees in London. Last year, the London office of Instagram became a significant growth centre for the photo-sharing app when its head, Adam Mosseri, temporarily relocated there.

It is worth noting that Mosseri played a crucial role in expanding Instagram’s user base and launching new features during his stay in London. However, with the latest reports of Meta’s plan to reduce its staff in the London office, it remains to be seen how this move will impact the future growth of Instagram and other Meta-owned platforms.

Furthermore, the report suggests that Mosseri is planning to relocate to the United States with the remaining employees. Before the decision is finalized, Meta will have to go through a mandatory consultation period with the UK government. As of now, the company has not provided any official comment on the matter. The reduction of staff from Meta’s London office remains subject to the outcome of the consultation period.
