Weekly cyberattacks in India increased by 18% during the first quarter of 2023, while weekly cyberattacks worldwide increased by 7% over the same period last year. (CPR) The research found that organizations in the nation saw 2,108 assaults on average per week.
The industry of education and research had the most assaults, with 2,507 attacks per company on average. Comparing this time to the same period in the preceding years, there has been a 15% growth.

India’s increase in cyberattacks is part of a bigger trend in the Asia Pacific region, which had the biggest increase in weekly assaults year over year. According to the data, the area had 1,835 assaults on average every week, a 16% rise. According to the research, ransomware attacks affected one out of every 31 organizations weekly. The research noted several complex operations where malicious actors discovered methods to weaponize legal technologies as the number of assaults grew. For instance, some less experienced cyber attackers created attack-ready scripts using ChatGPT.

The 3CXDesktop app was “trojans” by some for supply chain assaults. A well-known corporate communication tool is 3CX. According to CPR, its researchers also came across the fastest-encrypting malware ever known. Companies should employ the company’s cyber-safety advice to lessen their vulnerability to intrusions. This entails updating servers and PCs and installing security fixes, particularly those marked as essential.
