2024’s US Presidential hopeful, Indian American Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy, has found a backer in former Trump admirer *drum rolls* Elon Musk. In a couple of tweets, the X/Twitter boss commended the youngest ever Republican candidate as ‘very promising’ and someone who ‘states his beliefs clearly.’ Musk retweeted Tucker Carlson’s show Tucker on Twitter with Vivek Ramaswamy as a guest. He also retweeted Ramaswamy’s ten tenets, which slam gender nonconformity, reverse racism, open border policies, whilst defending capitalism, fossil fuels (no surprises there), and the nuclear family.

Vivek Ramaswamy (38), was born to Indian immigrant parents in Cincinnati, Ohio, on August 9, 1985. His family hails from Kerala. Don’t ask him ‘naatula veedu evede aa’ (Malayalam for where’s your native back home) yet though, as he is fluent in Tamil and understands Malayalam but can’t speak. His father, V.G. Ramaswamy, was a patent attorney at General Electric, while his mother, Geetha Ramaswamy, was a geriatric psychiatrist. Ramaswamy is a Harvard graduate with a degree in general Biology. Although his campaign claimed him to be a scientist who developed several medicines, he never was one. In his post academic, entrepreneurial ventures, he has been a financier to biomedical firms he co founded. He founded Roivant Science in 2014, besides cofounding the anti-woke asset management firm Strive. Although his campaign claimed Ramawsamy a billionaire with a $1 billion net worth, according to Forbes estimates, the presidential hopeful has a net worth of $630 million as of April 2023.
