Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing, has been actively engaging with the company’s YouTube channel, even taking part in product reviews. Recently, he shared his thoughts on various devices such as the iPhone 14 Pro, OnePlus 11, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and the Apple AirPods Pro 2, which were released in September last year. In his latest review, Pei discusses the features he appreciates and the aspects he finds lacking in the AirPods Pro 2. Additionally, he draws comparisons between the AirPods Pro 2 and Nothing’s own product, the Nothing Ear (2), which debuted in March earlier this year.

During the review video, Pei shares that he possesses the complete range of AirPods and expresses his satisfaction with the AirPods Pro 2 as a significant advancement over the initial generation. In particular, he highlights two notable features of the AirPods Pro 2: enhanced noise cancellation and transparency mode. Pei goes as far as describing the AirPods Pro 2 as “one of the finest noise-cancelling earbuds” he has ever experienced.
Nothing Ear (2) Vs AirPods Pro 2
A stark distinction is evident between the Nothing Ear (2) and the AirPods Pro 2 in terms of their appearance. The Nothing Ear (2) stands out with its transparent case and design, while the AirPods Pro 2 maintains its minimalist white case.
Pei emphasizes that crafting an AirPods case is relatively straightforward, but the process for creating the Nothing Ear (2) is much more challenging due to the incorporation of numerous transparent elements. The company must ensure that dust particles remain invisible, adding complexity to the manufacturing process.
Despite maintaining a centrally humidified manufacturing facility to prevent dust infiltration, achieving a completely dust-free product remains elusive for Nothing. As a result, they end up rejecting approximately 20 to 30 percent of the earbuds to maintain high quality standards.
Pei subtly hints at the AirPods Pro 2’s extensive popularity when offering his opinion on which earbuds individuals should opt for. He subtly suggests, “If one is satisfied with seamlessly blending into the surroundings, observing those widely recognizable white earbuds worn by many, then acquiring these would be a suitable choice.”
