BharatPe’s former co-founder, Ashneer Grover, expressed solidarity with Sam Altman after the OpenAI CEO was ousted by the board of his company on November 18. Grover, who faced a similar situation in 2022 when he was removed from BharatPe over allegations of financial irregularities, tweeted support for Altman. However, he later deleted ‘em tweets.
Twitterati reminded the former shark that there’s a stark difference between his ouster from BharatPe and Sam Altman’s sacking from OpenAI. Altman’s dismissal from OpenAI was due to issues with transparency and communication with the board, while Grover’s exit from BharatPe was surrounded by accusations of causing damages through illegitimate payments, inflated transactions, and other financial misconduct.
In the now deleted tweet, Grover highlighted the challenges faced by leaders, stating, “First they come after your role/shares – then they come after you personally. It’s a long fight! Stick on.” He criticized startup boards and investors, calling them “all ego – no intellect,” and referred to company boards as “puppets of investors.” Ashneer also shared a graphic with renowned figures in the tech industry who were abruptly fired, including Steve Jobs. Netizens called out Ashneer for his audacity. While the original tweet no longer exists, here are a handful of reactions to the entrepreneur’s post.
