Ashneer Grover, the former managing director of BharatPe, has claimed that the fintech unicorn is now a $3 billion write-off following the filing of a first information report (FIR) against him and his family by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Grover has also accused BharatPe’s Chairman, Rajnish Kumar, of being responsible for the destruction of the company’s value.

In an interview with Moneycontrol, former managing director of BharatPe, Ashneer Grover, claimed that the fintech unicorn is now a $3 billion write-off and is no longer a viable company. Grover also blamed the Chairman of BharatPe, Rajnish Kumar, for the destruction of the company’s value, stating that hiring him was a mistake.

Moreover, Grover insinuated that the timing of the FIR filed against him by the EOW was not coincidental. He stated that the FIR was filed at 6 PM on the same day that a judge reserved his order on another case, implying that there may have been ulterior motives behind the EOW’s actions.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has accused Ashneer Grover, the former managing director of BharatPe, of multiple charges. These charges include violating section 406, which deals with punishment for criminal breach of trust, as well as sections 408 and 409, which relate to criminal breach of trust by a clerk or servant and by a public servant, banker, merchant, or agent, respectively.

Additionally, Grover is accused of cheating and inducing dishonest delivery of property under section 420 and forgery of valuable securities, wills, etc. under section 467, among other charges.
