Cupertino based tech giant Apple is reportedly planning to release a new affordable Mac mini in 2024 featuring the next-gen Apple silicone M3 chipset. According to Apple analyst and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone maker has begun testing the M3 chip in select devices straight and the M3 chipset is in the final stage of production.

Apple may introduce a base M3 chipset and two higher-end iterations, likely to be called the M3 Pro and M3 Max.

As per Gurman, the two top variants may feature on the next MacBook Pros and the base M3 may power the iMac, MacBook Air, as well as Mac mini. The Mac in testing includes eight CPU cores, 10 graphics processor cores and 24 gigabytes of memory.

M3 SoC is said to include eight CPU cores and 10 GPU cores and the Pro iteration may have up to 12 CPU cores and 18 graphics, while the M3 Max is expected to feature up to 14 cores and over 40 graphics cores.

The iPhone maker is working on several M3-based Macs including a 13-inch MacBook Air, a 15-inch MacBook Air and a 13-inch MacBook Pro. The company is also working on a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro SoC, a 16-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Max SoC, and the above-mentioned M3 Mac mini.

In the meantime, Apple is preparing for the launch of the new iPhone 15 series in September this year. The firm is expected to unveil four models in the iPhone 15 series – standard, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max. The base iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro model are said to feature 6.1-inch displays, while the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to carry 6.7-inch screens.
