Founded in 2008 as FoodieBay by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah, Zomato (renamed in 2010), reported a consolidated profit for the June quarter after paying its taxes. For Q1, the net profit of the company was Rs 2 crore. In his tweet, Goyal stated that Zomato’s business has now, for the first time, PAT positive, besides Adjusted EBITDA. The Zomato boss also mentioned the company’s dining out vertical. He is prospecting to build another ‘super brand’ outside the Zomato app with Dining Out + Live = Going Out.’ Goyal also emphasized that, beyond businesses and profits, serving the planet is paramount. Hence the company’s endeavor to achieve Net Zero emissions within the next ten years. Zomato’s stocks have surged 14% ever since the quarterly report was published.

Our dining out vertical is already profitable for the India business.

However, we see a lot more potential in the ‘Dining out + Live = Going Out’ segment and are contemplating building it into another super brand outside the Zomato app. But more on that later 😉

While serving people is our business, serving the planet is our duty.

We have set ourselves a goal of achieving Net Zero emissions across Zomato’s food delivery value chain in the next 10 years.
