Acer recognized as a prominent brand for laptops and computer peripherals, diversified its endeavours last year by entering the television domain. Presently, the company has unveiled its novel I-series TVs in the Indian market. The I-series TV lineup starts from Rs 11,999 and encompasses a range of sizes including 32-inch, 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch variants.
These TVs boast an array of impressive features, such as Micro Dimming, UHD upscaling, robust 36W speakers with Dolby Audio enhancement, comprehensive compatibility with prevalent OTT platforms and much more.
Among these offerings, I got my hands on the 55-inch model, which is priced at Rs 59,999, but currently, you can buy it for just Rs 30,999 on Amazon. This pricing position put this smart TV in direct competition with rivals like Xiaomi, Vu, and OnePlus.
Today, in this review we will find out how this 55-inch model stacks up against its competitors. So let’s begin.
Design and Display
The Acer I Series 4K TV features a sleek design that immediately catches the eye. The borderless frame design gives it a unique and distinctive appearance, thanks to the high screen-to-body ratio that creates an immersive edge-to-edge viewing experience. Notably, there are no bezels present on the top, left, or right sides. Despite its plastic construction, the build quality remains commendable, devoid of any sense of cheapness.
Even though the TV stand is constructed from plastic, its quality is notably high, effectively ensuring stability and eliminating wobbling when the TV is placed on a table.
In essence, Acer has upheld a commitment to superior build quality without any shortcuts. Furthermore, the company has taken care to furnish the TV with a comprehensive selection of ports. These include 3 HDMI ports with eARC support, 2 USB Type-A ports, an Ethernet port, an antenna port, and an audio jack. In addition to this, the TV boasts a range of supplementary features such as Micro Dimming, Digital Noise Reduction, and Dynamic Contrast, among others.
Regarding display quality, it required some manual tweaks to unleash its full potential. However, making minor adjustments to settings such as brightness, contrast, and colour levels, enhanced the viewing experience.
I have tested the TV with 4K content like movies and shows such as “Avengers,” “Dexter,” and “Tron,” and I was highly impressed with the overall quality. The Micro Dimming technology appeared to be functioning admirably, delivering deep black levels during viewing.
An additional noteworthy feature is the TV’s UHD upscaling capability, which performs exceptionally well. I watched several daily shows and news broadcasts via a DTH set-top box, and the TV seamlessly upscaled the content without introducing an artificial or overly processed appearance.

Audio quality
Acer’s latest TVs shine notably in the realm of audio quality. The company has outfitted these TVs with a pair of robust 36W High Fidelity speakers complemented by Dolby Atmos. The audio produced by the TV is commendable and the surround sound effect is particularly impressive.
The preset audio setting of the TV has been finely tuned to accommodate a diverse range of content types. For instance, the Standard mode provides a well-rounded audio profile for most content, though it may lack in bass depth. However, other modes offer a more substantial bass presence and an expanded soundstage.
Additionally, I found that there were no issues with crackling sounds or bass distortion unless the TV was pushed to its maximum capabilities. Even at a moderate volume level, the TV delivers ample volume to fill a regular-sized room.
Performance and software
Another significant facet of a smart TV lies in its performance. This 55-inch smart TV from Acer is equipped with a 64-bit Quad Core Processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.
In terms of performance, the TV delivers an ideal experience. I did observe occasional sluggishness while navigating the interface and when switching between applications, but that is negotiable.
Acer I Series Remote
The arrangement of buttons is well-executed, with satisfactory spacing between them. You’ll find a power button, and even a mute button along with the inclusion of hotkeys for popular platforms like Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, and Hotstar. Situated between the buttons is a dedicated Google Voice Control button, allowing seamless voice interaction. Additionally, a dedicated keyboard button is also present, proving handy for quick typing of shorter titles. For more extensive titles or search terms, the convenience of Google Voice Assistant takes precedence.
Should you buy it?
Priced at Rs 59,999, the Acer I-series 55-inch TV manages to present a proposition that stands up well enough to warrant its price point.
This TV also distinguishes itself by incorporating features not commonly found in its counterparts. Notably, the inclusion of 35W speakers proves to be a notable highlight. These speakers not only deliver impressive sound quality but also emerge as a significant forte of the TV. Additionally, support for HDR10+ with HLG, coupled with Micro Dimming capabilities, further enhances the TV’s appeal by offering a richer 4K visual.
Should you invest in the Acer I-series smart TV? The answer is straightforward. If you’re in search of an affordable TV that combines a decent viewing experience with an attractive package, the Acer I-series certainly emerges as a viable and recommendable choice.
